Interrupting a Wedding

Day 36

The last entry was pretty big. And the things i did on Pentecost weren't that complicated, so the next few entries i will just post pictures that are quite self explanatory.

I flew to pentecost, and took a boat to my village. Arrived in the middle of my Uncles wedding. To pay for the bride here, his side of the family has to give her side of the family loads of Pigs and Red Mats, while she sits on the dirt all day with all her belongings waiting to be bought. Here are some pictures of that.

This is my mum, Elenor. A.K.A Ruthless animal killer.

This is the Bride, looking oh so thrilled.

This is 85 year old Grandma Pauline, werking the red mat

This is the Priest, he has bits of food in his hair from the customary food fight just before the ceremony

Preparing the Kava...

As if it couldn't get any more humiliating for the girl, they chuck a mat on her head!
